Our closest resource for groceries, only about 10 minutes from Hiram Blake’s. Very small market with essential provisions, alcohol and ice cream. No gas pumps.Bucks Harbor Marina
Gas is available for watercraft only. They also offer moorings and charters and have a small store with souvenirs and ice cream.Hannafords- Blue Hill
Closest full grocery store with gas pumps. Located just before downtown Blue Hill- about 30 minutes from the camp. They have all the essentials.Blue Hill Co-Op
Small grocery with primarily organic and local produce. Also has a nice cafe with indoor and outdoor seating as well as prepared meals/sandwiches to go.Hannafords- Bucksport
Many guests opt to stop at this Hannafords on their way up to the camp as it is the last resource before you head down our way.Eggemoggin Country Store
Small gas and convenience store with pre-made food and ice cream. Roughly 20 minutes from the camp.Makers Market Shop and Studio
Small market with local crafts, provisions, alcohol and pre-made fresh and frozen foods. Located just up the hill from El El Frijoles restaurant (and owned by the same folks).Four Season Farm- Market

Restaurants
Great food is everywhere on the peninsula. We’re lucky to have world-class chefs who make the most of the incredible local ingredients grown right here. This is just a small sampling of what’s out there. If you’re planning a day trip, we’re always happy to share our favorite stops. Dining spots fill up quickly, so reservations are highly recommended whenever you can.
Brooksville
Bagaduce Lunch- Technically located in Penobscot…but it’s just over the town line! Local fish fry joint with beautiful outdoor seating overlooking the Bagaduce River.
Bucks Restaurant- Charming dinner/happy hour spot with local seafood and fresh flavors.
Tinderhearth- Some of the best pizza and croissants you’ll ever have, and they’re all baked in a barn right here in Brooksville. Tinderhearth has quickly become a cult favorite- with good reason! It is incredibly popular and quite challenging to get a reservation for their pizza nights, but certainly worth it if you are able to snag one. You can also purchase their breads and pastries at local stores such as the Blue Hill Co-Op or Makers Market.
Crazy Otto’s Food Truck- Located on Coastal Road, delicious street food with new specials frequently. Take out only with limited picnic tables.
Sedgwick and Sargentville
Roaring Lion Farm and Market- Great spot for breakfast and lunch. They are a true farm to table experience as their seating overlooks their pasture for their cows and pigs. They also have a small market with their meat, local produce and provisions.
El El Frijoles- Delicious, fresh, Mexican food with outdoor seating. It can get busy so be sure to go early!
Strong Brewing Company- Wood fired pizza and pub fare, outdoor seating as well as heated deck area.
The Maine Lobster Lady- Casual family run seafood restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating.
Brooklin
Brooklin Inn- Seasonally changing menu, delicious flavorful choices. Slightly upscale in a cozy dining room adjacent to the Inn.
Brooklin General Store- Small general store with prepared foods as well as breakfast and lunch menu. Check their website/social media as they often host brunches, pizza and burger nights. They have a small cafe seating area inside and picnic tables outside.
Blue Hill
Arborvine- Intimate dining experience in a charming historic home. Delicious, elegant cuisine- our personal family favorite for a celebratory dinner or nice night out.
Barncastle- Cozy dining within their Inn, outdoor seating availble during the summer. Eclectic array of small plates, amazing flavor combinations with a seasonally changing menu.
Blaze- Casual pub fare with large menu. Fun outdoor beer garden adjacent to the stream flowing into Blue Hill Bay.
Marlintini’s Bar and Grill- Our true local watering hole. Pub fare and bar.
Humblebee Cafe- Yummy breakfast and lunch with indoor and outdoor seating.
Siam Sky Thai and Sushi- Large menu of traditional Thai dishes and sushi.
The Fish Net- Fried seafood, burgers and ice cream. Indoor and outdoor seating.
Bucklyn Coffee- Small walk up coffee shop with limited outdoor seating. Occasional local pastries as well. Beans are roasted just down the road in Brooklin.
Deer Isle
There’s a Treat- Fried seafood, burgers and large ice cream menu. Outdoor seating and fun playground for kids.
Fin and Fern- Located in downtown Stonington with views of the harbor, delicious sea food entrees, pasta dishes, and pizza. Indoor and outdoor seating.
Aragosta- Recently rated one of the best restaurants in Maine! Quite challenging to get a reservation so plan accordingly. Upscale tasting menus with beautiful views of Goose Cove.
Stonecutters Kitchen- In downtown Stonington next to the town dock. Pub fare with burgers, pizza and drinks. Nice views of the harbor.
27 Fathoms- Also in Stonington, perched on the water with indoor and outdoor seating. Seafood focused with other American dishes.
Holbrook Island Sanctuary- Located right here on Cape Rosier! A beautiful array of hiking trails, picnic spots and swim beaches.
Blue Hill Heritage Trust- The trust has an astounding list of hiking trails all throughout the peninsula. A few favorites are: John B Mountain, Lookout Rock,(both of these are very close to camp) Blue Hill Mountain, Wallamatogus Mountain, Bagaduce Bluffs, Peter’s Brook Trail, and Harriman Point.
Island Heritage Trust- Hiking trails and beaches throughout Deer Isle. A few favorites are: Barred Island and Lily Pond Park
Acadia National Park- One of our nations most visited national parks, roughly 1 hour and 30 minutes from the camp. Can get very busy during the summer months so plan accordingly! We love visiting Acadia and are happy to chat about our favorite trails.
Schoodic Peninsula- A section of Acadia National Park that is often much less crowded compared to Acadia proper. Still roughly the same distance from the camp with stunning views and lovely hiking trails. Our personal favorite section of Acadia!
Hiking
The great outdoors is what this place is all about. The hiking, or woodland walking trails are endless and we are always happy to provide reccomendations based on your skill level.
Art and Shops
Being surrounded by such beauty, it’s no wonder so many artists call this place home. These are just a few of our favorite galleries and shops- there’s too many to list!
Blue Hill
Jud Hartman Gallery- Native American bronze sculptures located in downtown Blue Hill. Stunning sculptures with facinating stories primarily from the Iriquois and Algonquin tribes.
Leaf and Anna- Charming gift shop with two locations, their “World Headquarters” is located in Brooklin and their second store is in downtown Blue Hill.
Blue Hill Books- Our local bookstore located in downtown Blue Hill.
Blue Hill Wine Shop- Lovely wine and cheese shop with other assorted provisions, beer, cider, coffee and teas.
Juniper- A curated clothing experience-some thrifted, some new, some vintage- an ever changing inventory! Located in downtown Blue Hill.
Working Loose- A fun concept shop and art gallery in downtown Blue Hill.
Brooklin
Brooklin Candy Company- Amazing array of candies from all around the world, as well as art, clothing and other treasures. Say Hi to Poe the dog for us!
The Wooden Boat School- A school dedicated to preserving the design, construction and maintence of wooden boats. Beautiful grounds to explore and small gift shop.
Deer Isle
Nervous Nellie’s Jams and Jellies-Located on Deer Isle and so much more than just a jam shop! Artist Peter Beerits, created a wondefully funky and fun sprawling junk art exhibit- based on his books- throughout the woods and grounds. A great place for kids and adults to explore and let their imaginations wander.
Haystack Mountain School of Crafts- A beautiful campus and small store. We encourage joining a group tour as their studios are often closed when in session.
